WOYZECK

CTNY adapted the script that was originally found in shambles within the desk of the playwright. Re-imagined to fit within a former public bathhouse, the staging of the piece put audiences the center of the story. Woyzeck’s growing suspicion and jealousy echoes a very real, intimate struggle as a result of his lifestyle as a soldier. The ensemble remained in the playing space for the duration of the show and seamlessly transitioned from character to character within the epic narrative. Ladders, pulleys, planes, buckets, and shims comprised the scenic elements that served as essential “found objects” with which to inventively depict the story of this peasant world.
